Getting Organised:
- Obtain smaller spare boxes from supermarkets and retailers
- Use a trolley to move heavier items to prevent back injuries
- Make sure small dissembled furniture parts are taped to main item to avoid being lost
- Remove microwave plate and tape door shut
- Pack frozen foods in esky with ice bricks
- Use butchers paper rather than newspaper to wrap items with shiny surfaces to avoid marking
- Make sure lids on jars and bottles tightened
- Load boxes closest to the exit before moving day
- Mark boxes as to which room they are intended for in the new home
Letting People Know:
Below is a guide of those you may need to notify of your change of address:

- Have a three month mail redirection service for your new address
During The Month Before:
- Confirm your date of moving
- Have a thorough clean out
- Donate unwanted goods to a charity and/or have a garage sale
- Use up your food in particular canned foods
- Arrange for a furniture removalist if necessary
The Final Days:
- Contact utilities and arrange for final, gas, electricity and water readings
- Organise the utilities you require at your new address
- Organise to transfer phone line if possible, and notify your internet service provider
- Cancel any local arrangements such as lawn mowing services, milk delivery and newspaper services
- Clean out and defrost your fridge and freezer
- Arrange for any necessary repairs or maintenance e.g. carpet cleaning at your new address
On The Day:
- Ensure valuables remain safe with you at all times
- Do a final check to make sure nothing is accidentally left behind
- If necessary turn off gas and electricity
- Say goodbye and lock up
